Terms of use
This document is written in plain English so you can actually read it. It is the agreement between you and Aimset when you use the app.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
Aimset is a training-analytics platform for sport target shooters. By downloading, installing, or using Aimset, you agree to these Terms of use (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Before you can create any public content in Aimset — a username, a display name, a bio, a session note, a club, or a comment — the app shows you these Terms and asks you to tap Agree and continue. Tapping it means you accept these Terms and our Community guidelines. If we make a material change to these Terms, we may ask you to accept the new version before you keep posting.
You must be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live (and at least the minimum age required by your app store and by law). If you are using Aimset on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.
2. What Aimset is — and is not
Aimset uses your phone's camera to score paper targets and to help you track and analyze your training over time. It also has social features: profiles, a feed of training sessions shared with friends, clubs, and leaderboards.
Aimset is an analytics and scoring tool. It is not safety equipment, it is not a range-safety system, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment, training, or supervision. See Section 9.
3. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior
Aimset has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. There are no warnings and no second chances.
If you post objectionable content, or if you harass, threaten, or abuse other people, we will remove that content and we may eject you from Aimset — suspending or permanently terminating your account — at our discretion and without prior notice. This applies to everything you can create or share in the app: your username, display name, and bio; session notes; club names and descriptions; comments; and any other content.
This is not a policy we apply selectively. We hold every user to it.
4. What counts as objectionable content and prohibited behavior
You agree not to create, post, upload, share, or transmit any content, and not to engage in any behavior, that falls into the categories below. This list defines what is objectionable on Aimset. It is not exhaustive — we may treat other content or conduct as objectionable if it is harmful, deceptive, or abusive in the same spirit.
- Hate speech. Content that attacks, demeans, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
- Harassment and bullying. Targeting, intimidating, demeaning, or shaming another person; stalking; encouraging others to do so; or unwanted contact after someone has blocked or asked you to stop.
- Threats and violence. Threats of violence or harm against any person or group; content that incites, glorifies, or promotes violence, terrorism, or harm to others.
- Self-harm. Content that promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for suicide or self-harm.
- Sexual or explicit content. Pornography, sexually explicit material, or sexual content involving minors in any form. Any sexualized content involving a minor will be removed and reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Spam. Unsolicited or repetitive content, scams, deceptive promotion, malware or phishing links, or artificially inflating engagement.
- Illegal content and activity. Anything that is unlawful where you or your audience are located, that facilitates illegal activity, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
- Impersonation and deception. Pretending to be another person, brand, or organization, or misrepresenting your identity or affiliation in a way meant to deceive.
- Firearms commerce. Offering, soliciting, or arranging the sale, trade, or transfer of firearms, firearm parts, ammunition or reloading components, magazines, or restricted accessories (suppressors, auto-conversion devices, high-capacity magazines) — regardless of whether the transaction would be lawful — including posting deals, prices, or purchase links for such items, or instructions for manufacturing or converting them. Discussing, reviewing, and photographing your equipment is permitted; using Aimset to buy or sell it is not.
Section 9 covers your responsibility for safe, lawful conduct around firearms and ranges.
5. Your content and your responsibility for it
"Your content" means anything you create or share in Aimset — your username, display name, bio, session notes, club name and description, comments, and similar.
- You are responsible for your content. You are solely responsible for what you post and for making sure you have the right to post it. You represent that your content does not violate these Terms, the Community guidelines, the law, or anyone else's rights.
- You keep ownership; you give us a license to run the service. You keep whatever rights you already have in your content. You grant Aimset a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content only as needed to operate, provide, and improve the service — for example, showing your session note in your friends' feeds or your username on a leaderboard. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for safety, audit, legal, or backup purposes (see Section 11 and our Privacy policy).
- We can remove content and act on accounts. We may remove, hide, or restrict any content, and suspend or terminate any account, that violates these Terms or the Community guidelines, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect users or comply with the law.
6. Acceptable use
In addition to the prohibitions in Section 4, you agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or detection models of the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
- interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the service or its infrastructure, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
- falsify scores, sessions, or leaderboard results, or otherwise manipulate the integrity of the data platform;
- use the app to collect or harvest other users' data, or to send unsolicited messages; or
- use the app in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
7. License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, Aimset grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial training and analytics use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. This license ends automatically if you violate these Terms.
8. Moderation, reporting, and acting on reports
Aimset runs a moderation system so the community can flag content and so we can act on it. The details users need are in the Community guidelines; the key commitments are:
- Reporting. You can report objectionable content and abusive users from inside the app — there is a Report action in the ⋯ menu of posts, comments, profiles, and clubs.
- We act on reports within 24 hours. When you report objectionable content, we commit to reviewing it and taking action — removing the content and/or ejecting the user — within 24 hours of the report.
- Automated review. Reports are reviewed by automated systems that apply our written content policy, usually within minutes, and decide whether to remove the content or keep it. As a safety net, content reported by multiple distinct users is also hidden automatically. Every decision is logged.
- Appeals. If your content is removed, you are notified and can appeal the decision once from Settings → Safety → Moderation; the appeal is re-reviewed with full context and you are told the outcome. You may also contact us at the address in Section 16 about any moderation decision.
- No tolerance, acted on. Consistent with Section 3, content and users that violate these Terms are removed and ejected.
We may also use automated filtering to block objectionable content from being posted in the first place.
Blocking
You can block any other user from inside the app. When you block someone, you and that person become invisible to each other across the app and can no longer interact. You can manage and undo your blocks in Settings → Safety → Blocked accounts.
9. Safety and lawful use are your responsibility
Aimset scores targets and analyzes training data. It does not make anything safe by itself.
You are solely responsible for firearm safety, range safety, and lawful conduct. You agree that:
- you will follow all firearm-safety and range-safety rules, range procedures, and the instructions of any range officer at all times;
- you will comply with all laws and regulations that apply to you, including those governing firearms, ranges, and the activity you are recording; and
- you will not rely on Aimset as a safety device or as confirmation that any condition, firearm, or range is safe.
Aimset is a training-analytics product, not safety equipment, and we are not responsible for how you conduct your shooting activity.
10. Account suspension and termination
- By you. You can stop using Aimset at any time and can delete your account from Delete account at the foot of Settings, under Sign out, which removes your profile and data as described in the Privacy policy.
- By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, remove your content, or restrict your access at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or the Community guidelines, if we are required to by law, or to protect the service or other users. Ejecting an abusive user blocks their account and hides the content they created.
- Effect. When your account ends, your license to use the app ends. Sections that by their nature should survive — including content responsibility, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and the safety and lawful-use obligations — survive termination.
11. Moderation records
To enforce these Terms and keep users safe, Aimset keeps a record of moderation activity — including reports (who reported what, the reason, and any details provided) and block lists. We may retain these records as needed for safety, audit, and legal compliance even after the related content or account is removed. How this data is handled is described in the Privacy policy.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Aimset is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that detection, scoring, or analytics will be accurate or complete. You use Aimset at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aimset and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated Terms in the app before you continue posting content. Your continued use of Aimset after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The Norwegian courts will have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
